Seven Oaks Library News
Note from Ms. Cecil
This February, our library learning focused on celebrating identity, kindness, and culture. Students explored Black History Month through conversations about hair, personal boundaries, self-love, and the importance of respecting others' space and experiences. We highlighted the importance of diversity and how our unique stories and backgrounds make our community stronger.
We also took a trip back in time to the era of Motown Records, learning how its music shaped culture, brought people together, and influenced artists across generations.
Beyond that, classes explored seasonal and cultural celebrations. We learned about Groundhog Day and made predictions about spring. For Lunar New Year—focusing on Chinese New Year—students discovered traditions, foods, the legend of Nian, and the Chinese zodiac. We also shared small discussions about Valentine’s Day, emphasizing acts of kindness and appreciation for others.
Our 1st graders explored researching habitats and sharing what animals need to survive and thrive.
